Level 4 Marketing Executive

Level 4 Marketing Executive

Marketing is vitally important to all businesses providing the insight to develop and deliver new products and services to meet ever-changing customer needs. It is the process of researching, developing, promoting and distributing, products or services through effective channels to engage with a range of target audiences. Occupations in marketing span most industries and sectors and the roles can sit within a specific company/agency that provides marketing deliverables and advice to external clients, or within an internal marketing team, delivering marketing activities to drive that business. Marketing teams generally work with external agencies to deliver specialist elements of their marketing campaigns.

A Marketing Executive will help shape, support and deliver marketing plans, working in conjunction with the Marketing Manager who will define the overall marketing strategy. A highly audience focused role which requires creativity, communication and project management skills - these individuals are responsible for planning and executing tactical and targeted marketing activity.

The EPA is the culmination of the Apprentice’s training programme and provides them the opportunity to demonstrate the full range of knowledge, skills and behaviours in the published standard. You can find the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education assessment plan here.

End Point Assessment

Teaching

Having completed a minimum of 12 months on programme training and completed the required amount of off-the-job hours specified by the apprenticeship funding rules, the apprentice will undertake a multiple choice knowledge test, project showcase and professional discussion.

  • 01. Application

Once the Employer has decided to use the Academy4PM for the EPA of their learner, the Employer will be required to complete and submit the Academy4PM EPA Application Form which activates the EPA process and initiates EPA for the Apprentice.

  • 02. Submission

At Gateway, this EPA requires the submission of a project plan summary outlining how the project will provide the opportunity for the apprentice to cover the KSBs mapped to the assessment method which will require sign-off by the EPAO.

  • 03. Review

The assessor panel, once selected and any identified conflicts of interest have been resolved, will review the submitted documentation in preparation for the project showcase.

  • 04. Panel

The assessment will be led by an Academy4PM assessor who will act as independent assessor and may include representatives from the employer or learning provider free of any direct conflict of interest. The assessor panel will contain members who have:

    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the apprenticeship standard
    • Have recent relevant experience of the occupation or sector or significant experience of the occupation or sector

The Academy4PM assessor will have the final decision on grading.

  • 05. Assessment

The EPA will assess the full range of knowledge, skills and behaviours listed in the published Standard utilising the following:

    • Multiple choice test consisting of 50 questions, over 90 minutes
    • Project report, presentation and quesiotning lasting 30 minutes
    • Professional discussion lasting 50 minutes

The above is an opportunity for the apprentice to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and behaviours required in their day-to-day work.

Academy 4PM End Point Assessment Process

Final Outcome

Once the lead Assessor has concluded all assessment methods, the Assessor Panel will review and finalise their marks and provide the Academy4PM with an overall grading recommendation. Both assessment methods are weighted equally in their contribution to final EPA grade.

All EPA methods must be passed for the EPA to be passed overall. Apprentices must gain a pass in both methods to gain a pass overall. Apprentices must gain a distinction in both assessment methods to gain a distinction overall.

Re-Assessment

Apprentices that fail one or more EPA method will have the opportunity to re-sit. Re-sits are not to be offered to apprentices wishing to move up to a higher apprentice grade. Re-sits/re-takes can take the apprenticeship up to 2 months over the initial 5 months allocated for EPA – therefore a total permissible EPA time is 7 months. Re-sits of the EPA methods are permissible based on the following criteria:

  • In all cases the apprentice’s employer will need to agree that a re-sit/re-take is the appropriate course of action and it is the employer's decision as to how many resits/takes are permitted, based on the criteria below
  • A re-sit does not require further learning, whereas a re-take does
  • All re-sits/re-takes will still be graded fail/pass/distinction (so no limit to grades on re-sit/re takes) and combined with the grades for the other assessment methods to determine the EPA grade as per grading procedure described above.
  • Apprentices should have a supportive action plan to prepare for the re-sit or re-takes.
  • MCT: If the apprentice fails the MCT they will not progress to the other stages of the EPA until a pass grade is achieved.
  • Project Showcase: If the Project Report component of the Project Showcase does not meet the fundamental criteria in Annex B (S1.1) they will not progress to the Presentation with Q&A component of this method, nor the Professional Discussion. Apprentices are able to improve their project report and formally re-submit this to the EPAO (to be clear this should be based on the same work based project). If the apprentice fails the Presentation with Q&A component of the Project Showcase they are permitted to re-sit this.
  • Professional Discussion: If the apprentice fails the Professional Discussion they are permitted to re -sit this.
  • EPAOs must ensure that apprentices complete a different MCT and receive different questions in the Project Showcase’s Q&A and for the professional discussion when taking a re-sits/re takes.
  • Where it is considered that further learning is required, or a different project needs to be undertaken for an apprentice to pass the apprenticeship it will be a matter for the employer to decide if this is the appropriate course of action.
