Level 4 Associate Project Manager V1.3

Level 4 Associate Project Manager V1.3

The EPA is designed to enable Apprentices and demonstrate that they are fully conversant in the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected of individuals at this level. It is also designed to provide assessors with a holistic view of the apprentice's capability, and to allow them to assess to what extent the apprentice meets or exceeds the apprenticeship standard.

End Point Assessment

Teaching

Having completed a minimum of 12 months on programme training, the Apprentice will have identified the 15 learning areas (from 17) which will be presented in the PoE. They will also have identified which 5 learning areas (of the 15) will be used for the Presentation and considered how the other 10 learning areas (of the 15) might be explored by the Assessors in the Professional Discussion.

  • 01. Application

Once the Employer has decided to use the Academy4PM for the EPA of their learner, the Employer will be required to complete and submit the Academy4PM EPA Application Form which activates the EPA process and initiates EPA for the Apprentice.

  • 02. Submission

The EPA requires the submission of the PoE by the Apprentice to the Academy4PM between 1 week and 1 month prior to the EPA date in electronic form. If the Apprentice wishes to submit a full paper-based copy of the PoE, 3 copies will need to be provided. Delivery dates are agreed in advance between the Employer (or their representative) and us.

  • 03. Review

The PoE is reviewed by our IQA for completeness. The assessor panel, once selected and any identified conflicts of interest have been resolved, will review the PoE during this period. The Lead Assessor from the Academy4PM will guide the assessment process and prepare for the Presentation and Professional Discussion.

  • 04. Panel

The assessor panel will comprise at least two members, led by an Academy4PM assessor who will act as independent assessor, who may include representatives from the employer or learning provider free of any direct conflict of interest. The assessor panel will contain members who have:

    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the apprenticeship standard
    • The ability to contextualise the relevant work-based project(s)
    • Current, relevant occupational knowledge and expertise, which has been gained through “hands on” experience in the profession within the last 5 years.

The Academy4PM assessor will have the final decision on grading.

  • 05. Assessment

The EPA consists of a Presentation by the Apprentice and a Professional Discussion which are supported by the PoE and will last a minimum of 1 hour. The PoE will have been evaluated prior to the Presentation and Professional Discussion with questions developed to test the Apprentices understanding. While the Presentation will be based on the PoE, the Professional Discussion will be an opportunity to explore specific Learning Areas and enable them to demonstrate skills retention. The EPA will also provide a means of ensuring that the work completed by the Apprentice is their own.

Academy4PM End Point Assessment Process

Final Outcome

Once the lead Assessor has concluded the Apprentices Professional Discussion, the Assessor Panel will review and finalise their marks and provide the Academy4PM with an overall grading recommendation. Each Learning Area is marked out of 5. This in turn provides the scoring for each of the EPA mechanisms of assessment as follows:

  • For the presentation supported by portfolio of evidence each of the 5 learning areas selected will be added together to give a total score out of 25.
  • For the professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence, each of the 10 learning areas selected will be added together to give a total score out of 50.

The total scores will be added together to give an overall total score out of 75. For an Apprentice to fully meet the standard they must achieve a minimum score of 45 out of 75 (60%). The Apprentice's final grade will be determined according to the following:

45-55 Marks

Pass

56-65 Marks

Merit

66-75 Marks

Distinction

Re-Assessment

If the Apprentice does not achieve initial EPA, detailed feedback on Learning Areas for improvement will be provided to the Apprentice (via the Employer) by the Lead Assessor with the end result.

If the Apprentice feels that they can address the areas for improvement identified and feels confident that a quick re-submission would be beneficial, the Employer may request the Academy4PM to undertake a re-assessment of the Apprentice based on the previous submission. This must be undertaken within 3 months of the initial assessment. In this case, the Assessors will only focus on the areas where the Apprentice required improvement.

The Assessor Panel is provided by the Academy4PM and will be undertaken via video conferencing facilities. Any re-assessment after 3 months will require a new EPA to be undertaken with new Assessors.
